Baby, it’s cold up there. One hundred feet up, that is. Well, not a baby, an eaglet, yet. But an egg, layed by an eagle at Codorus State Park, Saturday, on Valentine’s Day. (Update: And a second egg reportedly due tonight, 2/16/15). The YDR’s Joan Concilio has written about change in York, Pa. – the end of the York Daily Record/Sunday News’ operation of The Exchange digital bulletin board.
That community forum quickly became York County’s premier place to opine after its launch 10 years ago.
But in recent years came Facebook, Twitter and other social media, and The Exchange, built on dated technology, became a secondary forum for the YDR.
But The Exchange helped bring us into the digital engagement game.
It reminds readers that the YDR is no newcomer to the digital scene. In fact, flagship site YDR.com will mark 20 years in operation next year.
The YDR’s Facebook page just passed 40,000 fans and will grow by at least a third more in 2015.
For the thousands who commented on The Exchange over the years, it’s still available.
Longtime commenters will continue operating a version of the bulletin board, independent of the YDR.

The Association of Tourist Railroads and Train Museums, the National Railway Society and the National Railway Historical Society and the Maryland & Pennsylvania Railroad Preservation Society meeting in York on April 16-18. This is the first joint meeting of the groups.
